1. Meeting Schedule
We have a small group, room for more, and it’s one of the activities people can join if they’re still working. All are welcome!
Meetings are scheduled for the following Mondays at 7PM in the Rappahannock Room.
2. A few topics from the last meeting and for upcoming meetings
Last time, we got pretty daring and actually discussed religion and politics. Shocking, I know, but it was a very civil and interesting conversation and felt fairly safe as most of us know each other and our good intentions. We talked about religious institutions getting tax breaks and the sway some groups have over politicians v our Founding Fathers philosophy and documentation of separation of Church and State.
We briefly discussed Antisemitism and terrorism. The US Holocaust Museum has some videos and resources on the history of Antisemitism and Holocaust denial at https://www.ushmm.org/antisemitism.
Another topic was the proposed roundabout for the intersection for Celebrate Parkway and Banks Ford where there have been several accidents. It’s a difficult stretch of road on all sides due to plants, angles of curves in the road and the road being hilly. Of course we have to think about the reckless drivers and how we have to be extra cautious as they are not.
We had a brief discussion on current use of pronouns. I’m still lost on the topic and have a hard time with the grammar of it all. I’ll get there with a little patience.
With Thanksgiving on the horizon, State and Local elections in the rear-view and our HOA Board elections to be held 11/17, what’s on your mind now?
Do you have some tips, websites, podcasts or books to share? What’s on your mind?
Please bring a list of any of the following:
- favorite websites
- your subscription magazines - how did you choose and what’s important to you about them?
- names of a few books you’ve recently read
- summary of recent articles of interest
- topics on your mind
We’ll use the list to determine topics.
I hope to see you on Monday, November 20.
Cheers,
Marcia
