We have a small group, room for more, and it’s one of the activities people can join if they’re still working. All are welcome!

We talked about the Fairness Doctrine and how that fundamentally changed the way information is presented in news outlets and those calling themselves “news.” The Reagan Library has a good explanation at https://www.reaganlibrary.gov/archives/topic-guide/fairness-doctrine. Finding factual reporting without bias or recognizing bias and taking it into account when gather news is an issue we’ve discussed a few times. I have some news resources at https://table-talk-celebrate.blogspot.com/p/news-fact-check.html. One of my favorite sites is Media Bias Fact Check at https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/. You can also do a Google search using the words “unbiased news source” and see what they list.
We discussed the 60 Minutes episode about using 3-D printing to create houses. Is that the future of housing? What about AI, 3-D printing and other technologies and how will that impact the job market? How do these technologies change the nature of work? What new jobs might displaced workers find?
In this season, what do you look forward to now and what customs did you have growing up? As a child, dressing up for Halloween was fun and rather unplanned. I sometimes wore a dance costume or sometimes went as what was then called a “hobo” and that didn’t require much work! Some of the Halloween parties for adults have featured the most creative and fun costumes while I tend to go as a retired HR professional. My favorite parts of this time of year are the changes in the great outdoors: changing leaves, different plants, that chill in the air. Love seeing beautiful Fall photos online, too.
