We have a small group, room for more, and it’s one of the activities people can join if they’re still working. All are welcome! Meetings are scheduled for the following Mondays at 7PM in the Rappahannock Room.

2. Recap and Topic suggestions for our upcoming meeting
Last time we discussed the most recent changes in our Board of Directors as President Seifert resigned and David Campbell is the new President, Barbara Wright is the VP, Lucy Torres is the Secretary, and Al Wilson is the Treasurer. You might remember Lucy joined the Board subsequent to Brigitte Still’s resignation. Now there is one more opening on the Board if you want to apply.
Previously suggested was the broader topic of elections in our country and things to consider including the hard-won right to vote. We were so busy discussing our community that we did not cover this topic. You can read that post and see links on the previous online post. I am always open to talk about our community and our best interests.
I’ve been thinking about how to foster trust and cooperation in our community so the committees and Board of Directors can successfully close out projects on the action item lists. Forming a cooperative team where members feel free to voice their opinions is key for our future success. I’m encouraging them to have management and leadership training along with performance management training to better oversee the vendors including Management. I think the Board could do what’s needed but they must get on the same page. We have good people on the Board and I hope they take this advice to heart.
I believe in asking questions and making suggestions when I have them, and this is a matter of some aggravation to some people, appreciated by others. That makes for an uncomfortable position for me but this house is not only where we live and have a great view and friends: it’s an investment. Houses in our community generally sell in the $500K range and that will support us if we have to move somewhere for care or would like to leave the house proceeds to heirs and charitable organizations. It’s a part of our financial portfolio and well worth the efforts to protect our investment. Do you agree?
