2. A few topics for upcoming meetings
In our last meeting, we discussed our Homeowners Association a little bit and the rest of the time we talked about death. It’s not the most delightful of topics but something we all face. We talked about end of life decisions and decisions about who we trust to manage our decisions prior to and after death. It’s challenging if you don’t have anyone in your family you feel would adhere to your wishes and not have things get ugly. In our case, we do not want to burden our family with certain decisions and have to talk with an attorney.
So that was last time and it was quite the discussion. I’m glad to have a place to talk about things like this.
How do you use your free time? Is it different that pre-retirement? What do you find fulfilling? Do you volunteer somewhere? It’s nice to have more time to spend on hobbies and interests.
I do follow politics but rarely talk about that except in generic terms. Our society is so polarized. There are some issues I’m sure we can agree about, and one of them is money in politics. There’s a website called Open Secrets and they list politicians and who or what is funding them. So much money is spent! It is shocking. https://www.opensecrets.org/ Is this topic of interest to you?
Do you have some tips, websites, podcasts or books you can share with us?
Please bring a list of any of the following:
- favorite websites
- your subscription magazines - how did you choose and what’s important to you about them?
- names of a few books you’ve recently read
- summary of recent articles of interest
- topics on your mind
We’ll use the list to determine topics.
I hope to see you on Monday, August 21.
Cheers,
Marcia
